Meet the Founder
Geneva Nevell lives in Wellington with her husband, Josiah, and their Border Collie, Billie.
As a teen, Geneva volunteered at Christian Kids Camps and struggled to find Biblical resources that were also beautiful and engaging.
Moving to Wellington in 2019 to improve her design skills, Geneva completed an undergrad degree in Visual Communication Design with First-Class Honours. Her Honours Project was an investigation of reading habits in New Zealand children. This resulted in her first authored and illustrated picture book, Little Explorer, which won ‘Gold—Highly Commended’ in the Pride in Print Awards.
After two semesters of researching the power of analogue storytelling, Geneva spent the next year completing a post-graduate Diploma in Publishing, where she learnt all of the skills involved in book production. Her highlights were her internship at Penguin Random House NZ and presenting a seminar on the history and relevance of the Oxford English Dictionary.
Geneva now works full-time creating Children’s Ministry resources for her church community. Her freelance editing and illustration work has been presented at The Reading League Conference in Chicago and the Frankfurt Book Fair in Germany.
Stillroom Press is being built in the wee moments between walking Billie and baking bread.
